Halloween 2012

Halloween this year was quite the production.  It was Margo's first Halloween, Paige had two parties at school (one at Tiny Tots, one at Mother's Day Out) and we visited two pumpkin patches (one mentioned in the previous post).  I apologize for all the photos in this post but with all the activities, I wanted to make sure I captured them all.

We tried out a new pumpkin patch this year and it was a hit.  They had hay bales to play on, a corn "sand" box, ponies, petting zoo, and hayride.  It's been just this year that Paige has actually wanted to ride a pony so she was happy to see them.  We finished the afternoon with a picnic lunch and then headed home with a couple tired girls.

As I mentioned, Paige had two parties to attend this year.  Luckily, I had picked up two costumes on clearance last year so she could get use out of both.  One of these costumes was a bee outfit.  Since Paige is so into anything princess right now, she, of course, wanted a princess costume instead.  I told her that she could be a "queen" bee and while that satisfied her, she kept telling everyone that she was going to be a bee queen.

Anyway, she chose to wear this queen bee costume to her Tiny Tots party on October 30th.  At the party, they had a fashion show so that each child could show of his/her costume, decorated cookies, and played games for prizes.  The parents were able to come and watch and it was so fun to see her interacting with her friends.  She had a blast!

Both girls had Mother's Day Out on the morning of Halloween.  Paige wore her cupcake costume on this day and was quite the ham when we were trying to take pictures.  Margo was especially cute in her glow in the dark skeleton outfit.

Later that day, we got them both dressed in their costumes (Margo wore Paige's old pink monster costume) and headed over to our friends' the Kapila's for dinner and some trick or treating.  Paige and Hazel had a great time running from house to house filling up their bags with candy.  Margo and Oliver were content in the wagon.  It was a long day for everyone so once they had enough, we headed home for some much needed sleep!

She's become quite the pro at riding the ponies.

Feeding the cows tortillas.  Who knew?!

 Searching for pumpkins.

They already look like buddies, don't they?!

The bee queen, aka, the queen bee.

This is the best I could get of Paige and her classmates.

 Eating cookies.

 And with the skeleton, Margo.

The bee and the monster ready for trick or treating.

I wanted them both to stay in their costumes all week; they were just too cute!

Don't you just want to squeeze Margo?!

Here's Paige at 12 months wearing the pink monster costume.  It makes me sad that I won't get to see it being used again!

Unfortunately, this was the best I could get of the girls with Hazel and Oliver.  It was getting late and we were losing them quickly!

Paige and Hazel didn't see the bucket of candy sitting outside this door so after ringing the door bell, only to have no response, Paige started peeking in the window.  Anything to get candy!

Headed home.

Grandma and Grandpa Visit

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit for a few days in late October.  Fortunately, the weather was nice and warm so we were able to spend some time at the pumpkin patch and just playing in our own backyard.  We also visited Crystal Bridges Museum.  It's always so much fun to have them here!

Sweet Sisters

Just a few pictures of the girls from October.  They are really so sweet together.  Margo has started to crawl into the playroom on her own and I often just find the two of them in there playing side by side.  I just hope it stays this sweet!
More pictures can be seen at... Sisters - October 2012

Paige and Margo in their matching jammies.

Paige playing dress-up.  Doesn't she look like a tourist?!

Monkey see, monkey do.

Margo's first time eating spaghetti.  She was a little less of a disaster than her sister was.

Here's Paige after her first spaghetti dinner.  Still one of my favorite pics.

 Margo LOVES her baths.

We LOVE her rat tail.  It's become less noticeable since her hair has filled in more but we wanted to be sure to document this beauty.

 Paige LOVES her books.

 Sharing cookies (and germs too).

 Adorable.

 Margo sporting her Halloween jammies.

Paige wanted to be like Daddy.  Apparently, she needed a little more cushion.

Margo is 10 Months Old!

Well, I now understand why my baby book is only slightly completed.  I was the youngest child.  Poor Margo is going to experience the same fate.  She's almost 11 1/2 months old and I'm just now writing about her 10 month birthday.  Am I ever going to be able to stay on top of it all?!

Unfortunately Margo has had a bit of a rough go lately with an ear infection that just wouldn't go away.  Still, she is just as happy as can be.  I know I say this every month, but she is an incredible baby.  She wasn't so happy, however, when I turned my back for a split second while taking these pictures and she fell out of the chair.  That's right, Mom of the Year here.  Glad we sprung for that extra padding under the carpet.

At 10 months, Margo was army crawling all over the place.  Still trying to pull up but hadn't quite mastered getting her feet in the right place.  She had four teeth and uses them to try all kinds of table foods.  She's slightly pickier than her sister was at this age but I don't think she's wasting away anytime soon.  As of October 5th, she weighed 18lbs, 6oz.

Margo and Zoro.  I just love the cheesy smile.

Yes, she really is this happy all the time.

Can't believe how big she's getting!

Paige is Four!

My baby is four!  How did this even happen?!  As a stay at home mom, I'm blessed enough to be around for most of my girls' moments.  However, there are definitely some days that I find myself counting down the minutes to naptime or bedtime, just for a break.  It's occasions like their birthdays that make me realize how quickly the minutes, days, years, pass.  I found the quote below on Pinterest and loved how relevant it really is.  I need to keep this in mind as I'm answering the question, "Why?" for the millionth time or wiping a nose that seems to be filled with endless amounts of snot.  It may not always be glamorous but it'll be gone before I know it!

Ok, and now back to Paige's birthday.  As I mentioned in the previous post, we celebrated with a party at the Little Gym the weekend before her actual birthday but the parties didn't stop there for this birthday girl.  Her Tiny Tots preschool class helped her celebrate with cupcakes and treats the day before her birthday and since she was at Mother's Day Out on the big day, we brought Krispy Kreme donuts for her class.  Once Drew got home from work, we headed to Chuck E Cheese for a quick round of games and pizza before heading back home to open gifts.  She was so exhausted by the end of the day, she didn't even want to eat her birthday cupcake.  Four "parties" for the four year old!

Here's what Paige is up to now...

  • Weighs 32lbs (25th percentile)
  • Measures 39" (30th percentile)
  • Still naps in the afternoon for at least a couple hours but still stinks at sleeping at night.
  • Attends preschool two days a week and Mother's Day Out one day a week.
  • Recognizes the letters of the alphabet and is very interested in how words are spelled.
  • Enjoys drawing, coloring, and writing her name.
  • Loves to read books (especially when she should be sleeping at night) and remembers EVERYTHING in those books.
  • Obsessed with anything princess related; books, dress up, movies, etc.
  • Still is a Daddy's girl and loves her role as big sis.
  • Turned four and started calling us 'Mom' and 'Dad' instead of 'Mama' and Dadda'.
  • Extremely social and friendly, especially at school.  Multiple teachers comment on what a great friend she is to the other kids.
  • Sweet, smart, and such a special little girl.  We are so proud!

Paige got to wear her birthday outfit again for her party at school.
