When I found out that I was pregnant with Margo, I immediately started searching the Internet for ideas to use for the baby's nursery. I knew that boy or girl, I wanted to make it unique and special by making the bedding and accessories on my own. Of course, shortly after we learned it was going to be another girl, I was put on bed rest and my grand plans of sewing and crafting went down the drain. I had plenty of time to find fun inspiration online but no opportunity to bring them to life. Fortunately, my mom came to help while I was laid up in bed and she sewed for days until the bedding and curtains were complete. What a relief because I'm not sure I could have done it on my own even if given the chance!
We had decided to use one of our guest rooms as the nursery and the walls were a taupe color so the next step was to paint. I knew I wanted to do aqua and white stripes and since Drew was busy holding down the fort around here, we hired a painter to tackle the job. I'm so glad we did because they turned out just perfectly. There was also a strange little nook on one of the walls so we hired a handyman to build some bookshelves to house Margo's books and accessories. Again, well worth the money!
I just love how it all came together and hopefully Margo will love it too.

It's difficult to see, but the banner above the crib spells out Margo's name. The monogrammed pillow on the chair was a gift from her Aunt Amy and Uncle Phil. The raindrop mobile is made from an embroidery hoop and felt.
The new shelves are perfect for storing toys, books, and even clothes. I found the carnival prints above the dresser on Etsy and I think they coordinate so well with the colors in the bedding.
I used leftover fabric to fill the embroidery hoops on the wall. An inexpensive way to fill the space.
