Halloween 2012

Halloween this year was quite the production.  It was Margo's first Halloween, Paige had two parties at school (one at Tiny Tots, one at Mother's Day Out) and we visited two pumpkin patches (one mentioned in the previous post).  I apologize for all the photos in this post but with all the activities, I wanted to make sure I captured them all.

We tried out a new pumpkin patch this year and it was a hit.  They had hay bales to play on, a corn "sand" box, ponies, petting zoo, and hayride.  It's been just this year that Paige has actually wanted to ride a pony so she was happy to see them.  We finished the afternoon with a picnic lunch and then headed home with a couple tired girls.

As I mentioned, Paige had two parties to attend this year.  Luckily, I had picked up two costumes on clearance last year so she could get use out of both.  One of these costumes was a bee outfit.  Since Paige is so into anything princess right now, she, of course, wanted a princess costume instead.  I told her that she could be a "queen" bee and while that satisfied her, she kept telling everyone that she was going to be a bee queen.

Anyway, she chose to wear this queen bee costume to her Tiny Tots party on October 30th.  At the party, they had a fashion show so that each child could show of his/her costume, decorated cookies, and played games for prizes.  The parents were able to come and watch and it was so fun to see her interacting with her friends.  She had a blast!

Both girls had Mother's Day Out on the morning of Halloween.  Paige wore her cupcake costume on this day and was quite the ham when we were trying to take pictures.  Margo was especially cute in her glow in the dark skeleton outfit.

Later that day, we got them both dressed in their costumes (Margo wore Paige's old pink monster costume) and headed over to our friends' the Kapila's for dinner and some trick or treating.  Paige and Hazel had a great time running from house to house filling up their bags with candy.  Margo and Oliver were content in the wagon.  It was a long day for everyone so once they had enough, we headed home for some much needed sleep!

She's become quite the pro at riding the ponies.

Feeding the cows tortillas.  Who knew?!

The girls in the pumpkin patch.

 Searching for pumpkins.

They already look like buddies, don't they?!

My pumpkins.

Margo with the pumpkin that Paige painted for her.

Paige and the final product, a headless horseman jack-o-lantern.

The bee queen, aka, the queen bee.

This is the best I could get of Paige and her classmates.

 Eating cookies.

Our cupcake posing for the camera.

 And with the skeleton, Margo.

The bee and the monster ready for trick or treating.

I wanted them both to stay in their costumes all week; they were just too cute!

Don't you just want to squeeze Margo?!

Here's Paige at 12 months wearing the pink monster costume.  It makes me sad that I won't get to see it being used again!

Unfortunately, this was the best I could get of the girls with Hazel and Oliver.  It was getting late and we were losing them quickly!

Paige and Hazel didn't see the bucket of candy sitting outside this door so after ringing the door bell, only to have no response, Paige started peeking in the window.  Anything to get candy!

Headed home.

Grandma and Grandpa Visit

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit for a few days in late October.  Fortunately, the weather was nice and warm so we were able to spend some time at the pumpkin patch and just playing in our own backyard.  We also visited Crystal Bridges Museum.  It's always so much fun to have them here!
