Family Photos - June 2012

I forgot to mention it, but we had some family photos taken back in June.  Margo was turning 6 months old and we had yet to get any family pictures with her included.  As usual, Ashley did a great job.  Here are a few of my favorite.  They can all be found on our website.  Family Photos - June 2012

Margo is 7 Months Old!

Well, actually she's already eight months old but I guess I'm a little behind, as usual.  She's her normal, happy, smiley, easy going self.  We celebrated seven months in Pensacola, FL with Drew's family.  More to come soon...

Summer Fun

Just a few pictures of random early to mid summer fun...

Sleeping in and being lazy.

Sister snuggles.

We said goodbye to our dear friends, the Ernsbergers.  We miss them so much!

Paige playing Mommy (and everything else imaginable; she's got one strong imagination).

Margo's first time on the swing.  She was sleepy but enjoyed it.

More sisterly love.  Margo LOVES the middle two fingers on her left hand!

Cotton candy stickiness at the Lowell Mudtown Days.

A little dress up before bath time.  Not sure what this get up is all about.

Happy 4th of July at the Kapila's!

Paige's Swimming Lessons

This summer (actually way back in mid June), we decided it would be easier (and probably more beneficial) to sign Paige up for swimming lessons at our neighborhood pool.  I found an instructor that came to the pool for three days, an hour each day.  She focused on a group of only three kids (Addie and Hazel, included) and really spent time with each, which was great for Paige.  She really started to enjoy the water and definitely became less afraid of getting her face wet.  Perfect preparation for our upcoming Florida vacation!

Sisters ready for the pool.

Sleepy Margo.

Getting the hang of it.

Bowling with Paige

Nana and Papa came to visit us several weeks ago and since it was a little toasty outside, we decided to take Paige bowling for the first time.  She really enjoyed it but lost interest after about eight frames.  We went on to play a few of the other games and she was happy to win candy necklaces, a fan, and a ring (not sure any of them were worth the $10 spent in tokens but she was excited).  I couldn't get great pictures on my phone with the black light but you get the idea.

Margo is 6 Months Old!

Surprise, surprise, I'm behind on my posts again.  On June 13th, Margo turned six months old.  I don't know if it's because she's such a low maintenance baby or we're just busy with a toddler too but time is flying by!

Margo is a happy, smiley baby and an EXCELLENT sleeper.  I'm always afraid to talk about it too much for fear of jinxing it, but we really lucked out this time around.  She takes two or three naps a day, goes to bed around 7pm and sleeps until 6am.  No fuss, no long, drawn out routines, just lay her in her crib and she's good to go.  Now, her sister, that's another story.

We went to the pediatrician for a six month check up and she got a clean bill of health and is right on track developmentally.  She weighed 15lbs, 7oz, was 25in long, and her head circumferance was 16 1/2in, all of which are right around the 30th percentile.  She's tracking a little bit bigger than her sister did.  Paige was 13lbs, 10oz and was 24 3/4in at this point.

The pediatrician also gave us the go ahead to start solid food.  We began with rice cereal, oatmeal, and carrots, squash, and most recently, sweet potatoes.  She's enjoyed all of them so far and gets upset when the food is gone.  It's been fun to watch her enjoy new flavors!

See more pictures on our new site. http://thehamfamily.zenfolio.com/

She's growing!

Big, blue eyes!

Margo's first taste of rice cereal.

Margo loves this chair, just because it usually means food is coming!

First sips of water.  Most of it ends up down the front of her shirt, though.

Sisters playing.  Margo has so much fun watching Paige and Paige is great at entertaining her sis.

Carrots!

Paige wanted to have carrots for dinner, too!

Backyard Camping

We had been promising Paige we'd go camping in the backyard for a while now so on the hottest day of the year so far (June 9th) we decided to give it a try.  Drew and I had registered for a big tent when we were married but hadn't had the opportunity to use it yet so we were excited to test it out.  We could have fit the entire block in that tent, it was so big.  Paige was anxious to camp so we loaded it up with her babies and stuffed animals and hung out inside once it cooled down a bit.

I had also bought all the fixings for s'mores but without a camp fire, I wasn't sure how we were going to toast the marshmallows.  Luckily, I had read my Real Simple magazine the day before and it suggested using the oven's broiler and a cookie sheet to toast them quickly.  It worked like a charm!  Drew even made the statement that they were better than with a fire.  I happen to think anything with marshmallow and chocolate is good no matter how it was prepared.  Paige agreed, although she didn't gorge herself like Drew and I did.

After dessert, we put Margo to bed in her crib, grabbed the monitor and hopped in the tent for the night.  Paige was a little unsure of the dark in the beginning but settled in quickly and slept with us out there all night.  Success!  Maybe we'll venture to a campground next time!

P.S.  Apple did away with the MobileMe Gallery where we normally share our photos so I'm posting them to a new website.  www.zenfolio.com/thehamfamily  Let me know if you have any trouble using it.

Rosie loved being outside and even slept with us in the tent.
