Soccer

One of Drew's co-workers with a daughter the same age as Paige told us about a local soccer league for toddlers, specifically 2 1/2-3 year olds. Since I played soccer for years and Drew's love of all things sports, we thought it would be fun to sign her up for the eight week session. The kids don't really play a true game but sing songs, kick the ball (aka, Bobcat), and just generally get familiar with the concept.

We're a few weeks into the season and so far, it's been kind of hit or miss with Paige's attention span. The first week she required a lot of Daddy's guidance but the second week she was a little rock star, following directions and participating with enthusiasm. I was actually allowed an outing this past week so I tagged along and watched from the side, which distracted her so I think she's better off without an audience. Either way, she gets some energy out, meets new friends, and looks seriously cute in her uniform!

Not happy about being woken from her nap to strap on all the gear. We've skipped naps every week since and it works much better!

In a much better mood after arriving at the fields. Ready to play!

Paige's First Day of School

Paige started school again for the year on September 7th. She's still going on Wednesdays and loves having the same friends in her class again this year. She was so excited to go on the first day and unfortunately, I was in the hospital that day so Drew handled drop-off on his own but she did great, not even the least bit sad about being left there. It's amazing the difference a year can make!

Paige's first day. Drew did a great job of getting her ready for the day and as you can see, she was thrilled. What a big girl she's become!

In order to give Drew a few full days at work each week and give our wonderful friends a bit of a break, we decided to sign Paige up for a second school (her first didn't have any other openings) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She was so excited to go to her new school and meet new friends (although she still says she doesn't know their names). I was a little worried about my little girl going into an unknown situation and place, especially after the school year had already started but again, she did great! She's definitely become much more independent with everything that's going on. Great training for being a big sister!

Catching Up

With me stuck in bed on or on the couch, Drew and Paige have had plenty of bonding time. Drew's been great about taking her out and about, trying to keep her life as normal as possible during all of this. Here are a few photos of Paige and Drew's adventures around town and at home. As if she wasn't already a Daddy's girl, there's no doubt about it now!

Paige LOVED the rides at the Frisco Station Festival and did most of them all by herself!

24 Weeks and Counting (Slowly, Very Slowly)

I realize it's been a while since my last post, and and even longer time since my last post about Tiny Piglet #2. Well, a lot has been happening and not happening at the same time. As of Tuesday, September 6th, I am 24 weeks into my pregnancy. I wish I could give stories of rainbows and unicorns but I'm not going to lie, it's been rough. Don't get me wrong, we are thrilled to be expecting another little girl and are so thankful that she seems to be growing and developing right on track because in the end, that's all that matters. Unfortunately, this placenta previa is making it difficult to truly enjoy the experience.

I was diagnosed with placenta previa at 13 weeks after some bleeding landed me in the ER. I was told that it was still VERY early and there was a great chance it would take care of itself. However, as of my last ultrasound, it's still hanging out in the same place and now I've been told it has an "accessory lobe". Other than visions of my placenta carrying around a handbag and wearing a belt, I'm not entirely sure what this means. The doctor tells me it won't cause any other complications but they'll just need to track Tiny Piglet #2's growth. I'm kind of to the point where less information is better. I've been trying very hard to stay away from Google where it seems someone always posts their worst case scenario.

Anyway, this accessory lobe is causing quite a bit of bleeding, which is scary and frustrating at the same time. I've been to the ER three times now, stayed a couple nights in labor and delivery, and to the doctor's office countless times because of it. Fortunately, each time our little girl has stayed strong and content.

With the early episodes of bleeding, they would just send me home for to rest for 24-48 hours and then I could go back to light activity. Unfortunately, these episodes were becoming more frequent and on Friday, August 26th the doctor assigned me to my bed indefinitely. I wish I could say it's helped, but I've still had problems. I guess it's at least comforting to know that I'm doing all I can at this point.

While all of this is hard enough on it's own, it's been extremely complicated managing a toddler too. Of course, I already knew that I had the most helpful, understanding, and loving husband in the entire world, but it is times like these that reaffirm those "in sickness and in health" vows. Drew has been amazing, not only taking care of Paige and I, but also handling all the laundry, errands, and daily tasks all while putting in long days at work. Not only do I have the best husband, we are fortunate enough to have numerous friends with the same wonderful qualities. They have really done more than we could ever ask for, watching Paige, bringing dinners, and just keeping us sane, all while managing families of their own. Our families are equally as helpful, taking Paige for a week so we could have a break and visiting to help out with all the daily tasks that Drew is trying to keep up with on his own. I can only hope I can repay all of their thoughtfulness.

The doctors are still extremely hopeful that the placenta (and it's handbag) will move up as I grow. I'll have another ultrasound in 6-8 weeks to check the progress. From what I understand, it can still move in the third trimester but if it doesn't, it's a c-section at least a couple weeks early.

So, I'm sure you can understand why we take each day at a time, which makes the weeks go by very slowly. We just pray that God continues to keep us all strong and healthy and take comfort in knowing that He is in control.

Naked Time

Picasso

Paige had a bit of a rash in her diaper area that we couldn't get rid of. The doctor said it wasn't anything to be concerned with but to give her some diaper-free time to air it out. It's been very hot during the day, so we waited until after dinner to head outside for some naked time. I had bought finger paints last fall and was fearful of the mess that they'd make so we hadn't tried them out yet but this seemed like the perfect opportunity. She loved painting pictures for Grandma and Grandpa and Nana and Papa and she really loved getting messy! Next stop, sprinkler!

I think the water from the sprinkler might have been a little chilly because Paige didn't really want to go too far into it. However, when Drew gave her control of the hose alone, she had a blast! And she cleaned up enough to make it into the house for a bath!

Big News

Paige and Daddy playing after Drew learning the big news.

Most of you reading this probably already know, but Paige is going to be a big sis! I am due December 27th, just one day before Aunt Valerie's birthday. We found out last Thursday that Little Piglet #2 is a girl! I could not be more excited to have two little girls! And Drew is actually loving the idea too.

I surprised Drew with the news on April 18, a day prior to his 35th birthday. I took a couple of tests while he was at work and was thrilled to see that they were positive. I went on a quick hunt for a big sis t-shirt for Paige to wear and unfortunately couldn't find one. Isn't that typical, when you aren't looking you see something everywhere and when you need it, it's nowhere to be found! So, on to plan B, which was to make a quick shirt. Thankfully Paige took a very good nap that day so I could whip one up. I put it on Paige right before Drew came home from work and of course, he didn't even notice it! I actually had to point it out to him 20 minutes later! Goes to show you how little what you wear matters to him. It was a fun surprise for his birthday!

We didn't make the big announcement sooner because I have been having a few issues related to placenta previa (low-lying placenta). Fortunately, the baby is measuring right on track so she's developing well. We just keep praying that she continues to do so and that this placenta finds its way North.

Here are a few pictures. I'll post some belly shots soon. I've definitely popped quite a bit earlier this time around!

Happy Birthday, Drew!

She's going to be a great big sis.

Paige's First Movie

Paige and Mommy before the movie. Love her!!

Paige loves TV. As much as I hate to admit it, she would watch for hours if I let her (which I don't). So, we knew that she would like a movie just as much. When Winnie the Pooh was released, we figured it would be a good introduction to movies.

We took her to see Pooh a couple of weeks ago to a late morning show and she loved it! She really enjoyed the popcorn, fruit snacks, and juice in the kids pack at the theater. The movie was only an hour long, which was the perfect length. Unfortunately, she's not heavy enough to keep the seat from folding up on her so Drew had to prop his leg on the edge of it just so she wouldn't get smooshed! She began to get a little antsy toward the end but overall did great!

Here are a few pictures from the outing.

I couldn't get a good picture, but this is the sign for Winnie the Pooh.

Killing time before the movie begins.
